How to return medical equipment

Do you have medical equipment you'd like to return?

Do you have borrowed medical equipment you would like to return to the Trust?

You may have been given crutches, a Zimmer frame, a wheelchair, or another piece of medical equipment when you were discharged and having undergone rehabilitation no longer require them.

There are a number of ways in which you can return your medical equipment:

University Hospital of Hartlepool

Orthopaedic Outpatients

Crutches can be returned to the Orthopaedic Outpatients department at the University hospital of Hartlepool.

The department is located past general outpatients and Rutherford Morrison. Please return your crutches to the Orthopaedics reception desk and not to the general outpatients reception.

If upon issue of your medical equipment you received a yellow receipt – your equipment has come from Tees Community Equipment Service (TCES), please see below on how to return these items.

University Hospital of North Tees

Main Reception

The main reception at the University Hospital of North Tees will accept returned medical equipment from you. Just speak to the receptionist on duty who will take your returned items.

A&E Reception

The emergency department will accept returned crutches and walkers. These can be given to a receptionist at their their emergency reception desk.

Orthopaedic Outpatients

Orthopaedics can receive your no longer needed crutches. These can be returned to their reception desk.

Tatchell CentreĀ 

Can receive crutches at their Tatchell centre reception desk. Just ask the receptionist on duty.

If upon issue of your medical equipment you received a yellow receipt – your equipment has come from Tees Community Equipment Service (TCES), please see below on how to return these items.

Tees Community Equipment Service

If you received your medical equipment from the Tees Community Equipment Service (TCES), these can be collected from your own home or dropped off at their headquarters.

This equipment can be identified by the yellow leaflet you will have been given when you were issued with your equipment.

Patients and health care workers can call to arrange a home pick up on 01642 224205.
