The breast service is a multidisciplinary team who work collaboratively to ensure you get the very best care when looking after your breast health. The team work hard to ensure a supportive and effective service is provided.
Administration staff

The admin team deal with appointments and run the main reception area. They are the first people you will meet when you visit our unit. This friendly team are responsible for booking your appointment and will be the people you speak to if you need to contact our breast unit.

Mammography staff
We have a friendly and supportive team of female mammographers working in the breast service. They work in both the national breast screening programme and symptomatic services. They are the people you will see when you come for a mammogram.
They work within the community and at our static sites throughout the region. The team consists of radiographers and assistant practitioners, who are all highly trained in breast imaging. Some have achieved advanced practitioner status; which means they are qualified to report images and/or take samples of breast tissue under the guidance of x-ray. This is called a stereotactic biopsy.
Support staff
You will meet our friendly team of support staff working alongside our radiologists and consultant practitioners in our ultrasound rooms. They are a friendly face, a hand to hold and great emotional support for you while you are under our care. They are there to ease any nerves you may have and will be on hand for any help you may need.
Consultant practitioners

Our consultant practitioners are radiographers or sonographers who have trained and studied to consultant level. You may see one of them during your breast appointment. They work alongside our radiologists and their skills include reporting mammograms, imaging the breast with ultrasound, taking biopsy samples and breast diagnosis.

You will encounter our friendly team during your breast assessment appointment and may meet them during your symptomatic appointment.

Our experienced after-surgery team are here for emotional and practical support.
Our team consists of a breast care advisor dealing with prosthetics and bra fitting; on hand for any help or support you may need after your surgery.
