We have a friendly and supportive team of female mammographers working in the breast service. They work in both the national breast screening programme and symptomatic services. They are the people you will see when you come for a mammogram.
They work within the community and at our static sites throughout the region. The team consists of radiographers and assistant practitioners, who are all highly trained in breast imaging. Some have achieved advanced practitioner status; which means they are qualified to report images and/or take samples of breast tissue under the guidance of x-ray. This is called a stereotactic biopsy.
