What is an MRI?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body.
An MRI scanner is a large tube that contains powerful magnets and can identify a range of conditions including cancer, heart and vascular disease, and muscular and bone abnormalities. MRI can detect abnormalities that might be obscured by bone with other imaging methods.
