Nurse Sally Dack always strives to make sure student nurses have the best opportunities when they work in the podiatric surgery team and is our latest star of the month award winner.
Over the last two years she has received awards from Teesside University as recognition for having the best placements.
Sally makes sure each student has their needs met and always provides them with a rounded experience, providing them with the opportunity to work in both outpatients and theatres and across the different roles.
Sally is an amazing role model – not only to the visiting students but also to her team members and colleagues.

Sally wins award for her hard work
Professor Jane Metcalf, deputy medical director, visited Sally last week to present her with the latest star of the month award.
She said: “It’s the best nomination I have ever read for star of the month.
“The excellent work of you and the whole team shone through. What comes across is how much the whole team work together for the good of all of the staff and the patients.”
Specialist registrar in podiatric surgery Lesley Posymk, who nominated Sally, said: “Sally is an amazing role model – not only to the visiting students but also to her team members and colleagues.
“Her top priority is providing a high standard of patient care and she has a strong work ethic and encourages the team to no end. She always tries to accommodate each of her team members’ needs while ensuring high standards of care are delivered. We get lots of visitors to the department and recently have had more involvement with bank nurses. The comments I have received afterwards about how they have felt included as part of the team and have loved their time working there is testament to Sally’s commitment and dedication to the department and the positive work environment she encourages.”
Rising to new challenges
Sally has recently started a role as peri-operative operational lead in the team.
Lesley added: “She has adapted to this role very well. She frequently seeks feedback and encourages reflection of the team, regularly leading on the team debrief after theatre. She supports patients in theatre, ensuring they are comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure.”
Thank you to Sally and the whole team for everything you do for our patients.
