A skilled painter turned pharmacy technician has played his part in a project to brighten up the wall space where he works.
Before Mark Walmsley worked in the pharmacy and medicines optimisation team at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, he was a qualified painter.
When department director Mojgan Sani asked for any ideas about sprucing up the wall space, Mark was the obvious choice to take a lead.
Several weeks later, his creation outside of the main entrance of the department is complete and already gathering compliments from across the organisation.
Mark, who is a senior pharmacy technician, said: “Before re-training in my current role, I was a fully qualified painter.
“Though it’s something I have moved on from now, I still spend a lot of my spare time painting.
“This was an idea I’ve had for quite a while and it took quite a while to finish!
“It’s really pleasing to see the end result and to hear such positive feedback about it.”
The department walls are also covered in posters created by staff, showing a selection of the fantastic improvement projects they have led on.
Dr Sani, associate director of medicines optimisation, said: “Mark has worked in his own time to create this fantastic piece of work using skills he has professionally trained in.
“The department is based in the lower ground floor of the building and we wanted to do something to brighten it up – this is a fantastic start.”
