During this global pandemic and in the face of coronavirus, the microbiology team have shown dedication to maintaining a quality service. All whilst under significant pressure.
The team are March’s team of the month for their hard work and wonderful attitude during a time of uncertainty. Alongside an increased workload, and a difficult working environment.
Locum secretary to the microbiology department Michelle, who nominated the team,described the staff as: “Working tirelessly to ensure the whole service is able to run smoothly. Supporting other areas within the trust and carefully following guidelines and protocols to ensure quality of care at all times.
“The staff have worked longer shifts, covered on call rotas. They have done all within their power to keep things running smoothly in an ever changing situation. Never once have they failed in their duty of care.”
Deputy Chief Executive and Medical Director Deepak Dwarakanath who presented the team with their award, personally thanked the staff. He said: “as a medical professional, it goes without saying we couldn’t do our job without the support of you all.
“Often seen as the ‘background’ staff or working ‘behind the scenes’ you may not always feel you are appreciated and recognised. But I assure you on behalf of the Trust’s executive team and as a fellow colleague we value the vital job you are all doing. Without it we simply couldn’t have got through these difficult times, so I thank you all for your dedication and hard work you should all be proud of yourselves.”
