I am so proud and very excited to be part of this brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. NHSE Choices College (formally Project Choice) has been a well-established specialist post-16 provider since 2018 offering person-centred, individually tailored supported internships to young adults aged 16-24 with learning difficulties, difficulties, and /or Autism, and to now be partnered with the new Health and Social Care Academy within the hospital and being able to deliver our education days within the academy is absolutely fantastic!
Introducing our new cohort to the facility was a brilliant experience and I can honestly say our future interns, parents and carers were absolutely blown away and left the Academy on cloud nine!
The welcome tour and short introductory session gave our young adults and their families the opportunity to gain a small snapshot into how engaging the learning environment is and the impact it will have on our future young adults in supporting their learning and development as they prepare for adulthood and employment. The facility will allow our interns to achieve many skills using a wide variety of interactive equipment, a stimulating classroom and the use of the immersive suite which will in turn make our maths, english and employability skills sessions super inviting and will support those learners who appeal to a more visual, kinaesthetic and gamification approach to learning, while also giving their parents and carers the reassurance our young people will thrive in a very safe, welcoming and innovative environment.
We are super enthusiastic about the year ahead of us and beyond, and cannot wait to get started and work alongside the amazing and very welcoming team who run the department. Thank you Alex, Teresa and team for being so kind and helpful. A big thank you to Joel also for his friendly IT expertise!
