Our specialist team are here to help you if your bowel isn’t working properly.
The functional bowel service is based within the colorectal Unit at the University Hospital of North Tees and is delivered by nurses and consultants who specialise in functions of the bowel and disorders that can affect the bowel.
A functional bowel disorder can cause problems with constipation, leakage of stool from the back passage or needing to rush to the toilet.
Following an assessment, our friendly team can provide patients with advice on how to manage their condition. If necessary we will arrange investigations and offer treatments, dependent on the type of bowel problem you have.
We understand that this can be an embarrassing problem, and it isn’t an easy to talk about, however our professional nurses are here to help support you throughout your appointments.
Referrals are accepted by letter from GPs, consultants and allied health professionals.
