About our service
This leaflet aims to provide information about our service for babies who have been on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) and need some extra support from the Community Nursing team once they have been discharged.
Our Team
We are a team of specialist Neonatal Community Nurses who support babies and their families in the community following a stay on SCBU.
We are based on Ward 23 in the University Hospital of North Tees.
We work closely with the hospital team as well as working within the community and with patients outside of the hospital.
What happens next?
A referral will be made to us before your baby is discharged from SCBU.
One of us will try to meet with you and your baby on the unit before you go home. We will also arrange a home visit.
Playgroup
Once your baby has been discharged home, there is a Neonatal playgroup running every Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:30 at Velocity Gymnastic and Trampolining Club on Marsh House Avenue, Billingham, TS23 3NB.
The playgroup is run by the Neonatal Community Nursing team. There will be one of the Community Nurses or a Paediatric Physiotherapist present.
The playgroup is funded by Neoangels and there is always a hot drink and friendly faces waiting to greet you. There is no need to book, just turn up!
