Recognising and rewarding the fantastic efforts of our colleagues through our star of the month initiative has never been more important than during these difficult times of increased pressure.
Even when our staff are pulling out all the stops and working so hard, it’s important they are still making the time to nominate their colleagues for star and team of the month awards, giving them a much needed morale boost.
Here are the latest winners of the award from over the winter period.
Manager John Sheridan nominated the specialist palliative care team for showing ‘the highest level of care, compassion and kindness, going above and beyond to deliver specialist support to clinicians, patients and families’ during the pandemic.
Endoscopy matron Alison McCullagh was nominated by her colleague Greg. He recognised how, even during a pandemic and faced with staff absence, Alison “maintained safety to staff and patients, provided psychological support to her colleagues and even at these times of immense pressure on the service she stood by her underlying principle that patient experience is paramount”.
Lung health clerical assistant Mandy Hopper’s nomination described her as being “intelligent, dynamic, approachable and calm”. Submitted by consultant Gillian Wallace, Mandy won the award for always “doing her utmost to accommodate patients needs”.
And last, but certainly not least, the NTH Solutions painting and decorating team have won the award for the second time, this time nominated by Paediatric matron Heather Walker after they completed some work on the children’s ward. Heather described the team as “friendly, happy, contentious and hardworking, making the ward bright clean and child friendly”.
And special mention must go to the painting team who kindly donated their hamper of goodies to the critical care staff who they described as ‘the real winners’.
