The pharmacy and medicines optimisation team has been shortlisted in four different categories at the HSJ Value Awards 2020, recognising outstanding dedication to making improvements in the NHS.
The four categories the team at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have been included in are:
- Operations and Performance Initiative of the Year
- Specialist Service Redesign Initiative
- Respiratory Care Initiative of the Year
- HSJ Value Award of the Year
The judging panel included a diverse range of highly regarded figures across the NHS and wider healthcare sector. To be shortlisted as a finalist for these awards, despite tough competition from hundreds of brilliant applicants, is a mark of real achievement for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation trust. The Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation team in collaboration with the multidisciplinary clinical team and finance department have been selected based on their diligence, ambition and the positive impact that their projects have had within their wider organisation.
Significant contribution
All projects in different categories have significantly contributed towards improving patient experience and quality of care, as well as financial savings that have been both reinvested in direct patient care and contributed towards the organisation’s sustainability. The total value of medicines savings for the organisation during the year has been £2.4 million against a target of £1 million. This has been achieved through prescribing of the best value medicines and minimisation of medicines waste.
Dr Mojgan H Sani (Director Medicines Optimisation and Chief Pharmacist) said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in four different categories. This recognises the collaborative efforts and dedication of our teams together with our medical, nursing and finance colleagues over the last 12 months, to successfully implement initiatives to improve patient outcome and bring about financial value and savings towards the sustainability of the organisation. We are committed to delivering improved outcomes for patients and the wider organisation, and to be chosen among the other incredible nominees is a wonderful achievement.”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan comments: “We would like to congratulate North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust on being nominated in four different categories of HSJ Value Awards 2020.
