Family and friends of in-patients at the University Hospital of North Tees can now drop off ‘letters of love’ at the Patient Experience Team office, near the fish tank on the ground floor.
Any cards or letters will be delivered to the patient, and if they’re struggling to read them, a volunteer will read it aloud for them.
This is in addition to gifts and clean clothes for patients which can also be dropped off at the same location.
Loved ones
Charlotte Pett, from the Patient Experience Team, said: “We know it’s not nice for patients being separated from their loved ones while in hospital.
“Hopefully being able to drop off cards, as well as clean clothes and gifts, will bring a smile to our patients’ faces.”
The loved ones of patients are reminded to wear a mask and deliver all letters and gifts in a sealed bag, with the patient’s details clearly marked on it.
The following items are not permitted:
- Money
- Drugs/medication of any kind
- Alcohol
- Cigarettes/lighters or vaping equipment
We have a number of ways to keep in contact with loved ones while at the University Hospital of North Tees.
