NHS staff in Hartlepool are continuing to give something back to their local foodbanks as part of a collective ‘thank you’ to their community in response to COVID-19.
Staff at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have been overwhelmed with the love and support of the community over the last few months.
As a gesture of thanks, as staff do their food shopping they have committed to giving generously to local foodbanks in Stockton and Hartlepool.
There are various collection points across the organisation. Volunteer drivers, like Colin, then collect donations from these points and deliver them to foodbanks.
Rosie Livingston is a specialist nurse in the chemotherapy unit at the University Hospital of Hartlepool. She said: “Our community have been and continue to be incredible in their support to us.
“Whatever we have needed and more – they have given it to us. We all want to say ‘thank you’ and in some way give back to people in the most need.
“The foodbank is such a worthwhile cause. It helps people and families who sometimes don’t even have a meal or the toiletries they need.
“This is a particularly challenging time for people like this. Thank you to all of the staff who have visited the unit to drop off supplies at our collection point.
“And thank you to Colin and all of the other volunteer drivers for their fantastic support with this initiative.”
Colin said: “It is an absolute pleasure and privilege to be able to help in some way with this fantastic cause and come together to help those in need.”
