Our endoscopy team has developed new information videos to help prepare patients for their procedures.
The team at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has created a series of 14 videos, in a bid to help ease anxieties surrounding patients coming in for their operation, especially during COVID-19.
Colleagues from across the gastroenterology department have all given their time and expertise to help break down the journey patients can expect, from initial referral to what will happen on the day and support following discharge.
Advice in the videos includes:
- How to prepare for your operation
- Key information on reasons for the procedures
- What kind of concerns and risks there may be
We would also like to remind patients that staff are always available to help with any questions you may have.
Consultant gastroenterologist Dr Vikramjit Mitra is one of the specialists featured in the videos. He said: “It’s important that we can share and direct patients to these information videos about our endoscopy procedures. For many patients, we understand that coming in to hospital for a procedure can be a very worrying time. We hope that by having this resource to share we can help ease any anxieties before coming in.”
Consultant gastroenterologist and endoscopy lead Dr Iosif Beintaris, added: “We hope the information in these videos helps answer any questions our patients may have and that we can continue to share how important it is that patients do their best not to miss their procedure dates.”
Where can I find the endoscopy videos?
The procedure information videos can be found online on our endoscopy service page.
