A specialist dental team have reached out into their community to raise awareness of regularly brushing teeth, a healthy diet and the importance of visiting a dentist.
The Tees community dental services oral health promotion team were invited and attended the inaugural children’s conference recently at STEM, Middlesbrough College.
Beccy Tennant and Roy Anthony were among around 80 people there with displays and giving presentations.
Beccy said: “What a fantastic, very busy and positive day this was.
“The fact that we could give away some free tooth brushes and paste probably helped – but we were inundated with people genuinely interested in our message of promoting good oral health care for our most vulnerable.
“We were invited to listen to the two key note speakers, Nicci and Claire. Nicci gave us a look behind the scenes about the challenges of owning and running a children’s nursery – a sobering explanation – and Claire explained how the Power of Women was inspiring girls and women across the region.”
Roy added: “It was a wonderful and worthwhile day, one that Beccy and I would highly recommend to you.
“If you feel that your department can offer something to the health and development of our children, can I suggest that you consider approaching STEM, Middlesbrough College and see if there’s a collaborative opportunity for you.”
