North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust is appealing for local people to make their voice heard by standing for election as a governor.
A governor is a statutory position which allows the trust to develop its long-term strategy and future direction.
Key responsibilities
The key responsibilities of a governor include reflecting the interests of members and the general public, helping select and appoint the chairman and non-executive directors, advising the board of directors on the development of services, approving the chief executive’s appointment, attending council of governors meetings and assisting the development of the Trust’s membership strategy.
In order to vote for, or stand as, a governor, you must be a member of the Trust.
Trust membership is free and easy to sign up for. You can also find out more by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01642 383920.
Stand for your community
Professor Derek Bell, joint chairman for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, commented: “To stand for governor is to stand for your community.
“We need to involve people from all backgrounds, social and professional, if we are to properly serve our communities. Becoming a member, and perhaps standing for election as a governor, is the most direct and impactful way anyone can get involved in the day-to-day functions and services of their local hospital.”
