About EAU
Our EAU is open 24/7. The unit cares for patients who need immediate review and who are expected to need further treatment on a medical ward.
Patients may have been brought into hospital by ambulance or referred to the unit via GP, community nurse, our accident and emergency department or outpatient clinic. Patients are assessed and then either qualified for discharge, admitted for treatment as a hospital inpatient or referred for outpatients treatment.
It offers a fast-paced and varied workplace for nursing staff who work alongside doctors and support staff.
