
Testing in hospital
You may be asked to come into the hospital for tests.
There are lots of different tests you might have done while you are here.

Outpatients
You might be asked to attend one of our outpatient depertments.

Pre-assessment
Or you might be asked to attend an appointment at he pre-assessment clinic.

Coming to your appointment
Give your appointment letter to staff at reception.
You will be asked to sit in a waiting area.

Getting weighed
The nurse might weigh you.

Getting measured
The nurse may also measure how tall you are.

Blood pressure test
The nurse will check your blood pressure.

Urine samples
The nurse will test your wee (urine) sample if this is needed.

Listening to your chest
The nurse or doctor might listen to your chest.

Blood tests
The nurse and doctor may ask you to get a blood test.

Ultrasound
Or you may need an ultrasound scan.

X-Ray
Or you may have a chest X-ray.

Checking your teeth
Having an X-Ray of your teeth.

Having a CT scan
You will lay down on the table for this scan, and the scanner goes around your body.
You will be the person inside the scanner.

Medication prescription
Collecting any medicines from the hospital pharmacy before you go home.

Further appointments
You may have to come back to the hospital on another day for tests or another appointment.
You may get a letter in the post with the time of your next appointment.
