North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has been officially recognised for a decade of distinction in its commitment to the health and wellbeing of its staff.
It’s health and wellbeing team has once again achieved the Maintaining Excellence accreditation at the Better Health at Work Award 2019 – for an incredible tenth year in a row.
The Better Health at Work Award’s report highlighted several successes in improving the staff’s health. This included a flu vaccination campaign, menopause support groups, smear test support, weight management sessions and health activity campaign.
The Trust’s Health and Wellbeing agenda is led by Jill McGee and her recently retired colleague Maureen Wales.
Jill said: “We’re really pleased to maintain this level for the 10th year.
“It’s vitally important we look after and support our staff. So that they are happy to come to work and provide the best care to our patients.
“Maureen has recently retired and I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her hard work. She helped maintain this accolade and massively contributed to health and wellbeing across the Trust.
“We have lots of great things planned for the year ahead to support our staff. Look out for fitness groups, health support groups and campaigns, and sport activity days.”
Collaborating to support better health and wellbeing
Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: “Our staff have worked closely with a large number of Stockton-on-Tees organisations to help them achieve the Better Health at Work Award throughout the scheme’s ten-year existence. This has brought benefits to thousands of employees across the Borough.
“The Trust has been involved with the scheme from the very start. With the help of dedicated employees, they have continuously delivered a wide range of campaigns. Improving the health and wellbeing of their staff. Well done to the trust and especially to Jill and Maureen. They have worked hard to enable local people to be healthier in the workplace and beyond.”
