A health trust’s success going paper-free with patient records was showcased to a health organisation on the other side of the world as part of a special visit.
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust invited Bendigo Health Fundraising and Foundation, who are based in Australia, to find out more about its use of an electronic patient records system over the last decade.
As a customer reference site for InterSystems, who deliver TrakCare, the Trust’s digital programme Team organised a guided tour, so the visiting team could speak to frontline staff and senior staff around how the system has benefitted staff and patients.
The day included a presentational talk hosted by the senior digital staff to deliver the story of the digital journey at the Trust over the last decade.
The Bendigo health team took away information including lessons learned, challenges faced and collaboration efforts amongst all the departments.
Real benefits for staff and patients
Ken Anderson, group chief information officer, said: “Moving our patient records online has offered real benefits to both our staff and our patients. It’s a journey we are still on as staff continually strive to improve how we use the system to help us deliver the best possible care to our patients. As a site which is using the system to such success, it was fantastic to be asked to host an organisation from the other side of the world who have started to use the same system themselves.”
“We also just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the staff who were involved in sharing their knowledge, time and expertise during the day. The day was a fantastic success and a great testament to the hard work and efforts of all staff involved.”
