Staff from antenatal assessment in women’s outpatients at the University Hospital of North Tees accepted some very special handcrafted gifts this month, as part of a community project by a local primary school.
Year 1 children from Oxbridge Lane Primary School in Stockton, attended the hospital last week to hand deliver some glass tea lights that had been hand painted by the class.
Year 1 teacher, Rebecca Verity said: “As part of ensuring our children positively contribute to our local community, every year each class takes on a community project in order to help improve our local area, or to say thank you to members of the community.
“This year, our children have designed and decorated glass tealights and wanted to gift them to midwives and healthcare professionals in their local hospital as a thank you. It was also a way to remind them to take a well-deserved bit of time for themselves after all their hard work.”
Oxbridge Lane takes on a community project each year to encourage its children becoming life-long, confident learners who are ready to make a positive contribution to their community and wider society.
Ward matron Lorna Bell said: “A huge thank you to the children for their kind gifts, which were so enthusiastically delivered to our midwives last week. The tea lights were a really thoughtful gift, and I know myself and the team look forward to lighting the candles and taking a bit of time for ourselves to rest and relax.”
