The Trust is using the Listening Into Action (LiA) app to create a safe space to facilitate discussion amongst its staff during these challenging times.
The app has been specifically designed to support health colleagues during the COVID-19 crisis. Providing a platform to share ideas and specific needs.
As a responsible employer, the Trust recognises the significant pressures staff are working under. And that there has never been a more important time to listen to each other.
The initiative works on the principle of anonymity. The app can be downloaded by the whole workforce where they can post openly. These submissions are then picked up by the Employee Engagement Team and senior leaders. Who can take the ideas forward and feedback on any outcomes.
Top ideas from other NHS Trusts up and down the country are shared too. This shared learning is absolutely crucial to the country wide fight against COVID-19.
How the app helps
The app was built around the simple fundamental approach of “Showing humanity to our NHS staff, so they can show humanity to their patients.” It takes the outcome-oriented, all-engaging LiA initiative into the 21st century with the latest app technology that all staff can access. It creates an open line of communication between employers and their staff. Sharing ideas and needs to help everyone cope during the current global pandemic.
Emma Roberts, Head of Nursing, Responsive Care said “It’s a brilliant way for staff to feedback ideas and raise concerns. Especially with the way things are at the minute. Sometimes they don’t get a chance to stop and talk. So if they can log into the app when they get home or on their break, it means ideas can still be shared.”
Deputy Chief People Officer, Gary Wright explains ‘Listening Into Action is a real defining opportunity for our organisation in the current climate. As an organisation, we are absolutely committed to engaging with staff at every opportunity and acting on their invaluable feedback. This app creates an environment for open, transparent discussion on a public forum. It means we can tackle any issues raised whilst directly involving the workforce in improving the quality and safety of patient care.’
