The University Hospitals Tees is celebrating after winning a prestigious award.
The Digital Skills Development Network, which supports leadership, professional development and the sharing of best practice across the NHS, named the group the winner of the DDaT Team – Automation and Efficiency Award at its annual prize giving event.
Patient wellness
The award recognised the importance of a new digital ‘patient wellness questionnaire’.
This innovation enables families to more easily request a clinical review if they are worried about their loved one’s condition deteriorating.

Lead nurse for acutely ill patients Jacqui Jones said: “We were absolutely delighted when we learnt that our project had been announced as the winner, knowing what this means for patients and their families.
“This award recognises the vital role families play in patient care, highlighting how digital solutions can strengthen the partnership between patients, their loved ones, and our clinical teams, ensuring everyone feels heard and supported throughout their care journey.
“Receiving this award is a reflection of the dedication of so many people, but above all, it is a testament to our commitment to improving safety, confidence, and outcomes for patients. We are proud to be recognised for work that puts patients at the centre of every decision.”
A highly commended duo

University Hospitals Tees was also recognised as Highly Commended for two further prizes – Outstanding Contribution and Rising Star Awards.
Project implementation lead Natalie Williams said: “I was thrilled to be nominated for Rising Star Award and even though I didn’t take it home, it was great to be singled out as ‘highly commended’.
“We had a great evening and the Digital Skills Development Network will certainly hear from us next year when they are planning their 2027 awards!”
Project implementation lead Amy McTaggart commented: “The nomination for Outstanding Contribution reflected the work of a lot of people. Being named Highly Commended is validation of what we do and the service we provide.”
