We are offering 65 exciting opportunities for local people to take their first step into a career in the NHS.
Healthcare support workers play a vital role in patient care — from helping with personal care and basic health checks to providing everyday support that makes a real difference.
Development
These 12-month, paid NHS Band 2 roles (starting at £24,465) are aimed at those over 16 year’s old, both with and without caring experience or the relevant qualifications and come with a clear pathway to progression. Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training and development, with the opportunity to move into a Band 3 healthcare support role.
The role is also suitable for those who wish to return to the NHS.
More than a job

Emma Roberts, associate director of nursing and professional workforce, said: “This is more than just a job — it’s a great opportunity. We’re committed to developing people who want to grow, take on new challenges, gain the required qualifications and make a lasting impact on patient care.
“Your ambition will be supported every step of the way.”
Satisfaction
Healthcare support worker Jon Cox, from Middlesbrough, added: “I get real satisfaction from knowing I’ve helped someone recover. Watching a patient come in unwell and walk out better — that’s what it’s all about.”
The roles are based at University Hospital of North Tees and University Hospital of Hartlepool, with new starters potentially allocated to their preferred ward or service.
Emma commented: “Start your journey in health care with us and see where it takes you.”
