With holiday season on the way, thousands of local people will be jetting off to the sun, enjoying the charms of the UK’s favourite holiday destinations or relaxing at home with friends and family.

Hartlepool Stop Smoking Service
Earlier this year, the Hartlepool Borough Council commissioned Hartlepool Stop Smoking Service was launched by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and Hartlepool and Stockton Health.
The new service complements existing schemes and includes specialist support for pregnant women, hospital inpatient advice, and community navigators at Hartlepool’s community hubs, by providing:
- 12-week support programme (including nicotine replacement therapies and/or an e-cigarette)
- Face-to-face clinics across the community
- Telephone consultations
- Home visits for housebound patients
- Workplace clinics

Support for smokers in Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have a fully established inpatient and maternity support service to help people quit or abstain. The maternity support service has helped the Trust achieve a rate of lower than 5% of smokers at delivery – reduced from 14.9% in 2022.
The service has great links into the community smoking cessation service to provide seamless support and works collaboratively to bring community services into the organisation to help more staff and site visitors to quit smoking for good.

Pregnant smokers can talk to their community midwife or a member of maternity staff to be referred for support.
