Surgery research

Research is important in helping to improve existing treatments and services and to help us discover new treatments and services.

The trust regularly recruit patients undergoing surgical procedures in surgery.

At the moment we are running trials within the following clinical specialisms:

  • Breast surgery
  • Colorectal surgery
  • Urological surgery

However we are always expanding the number of research studies that we take part in so it’s always good to check with your doctor or nurse if you are interested in taking part in research studies.

We want to help you understand more about your condition and your treatments. Being involved in research can really help with this and help others with similar conditions in the future.

If you choose to take part in one of our research trials, it may involve completing a questionnaire, blood tests and some other tests.

If the research involves additional visits to the hospital then you will normally be paid for your travel costs.
We’re always looking at the effectiveness of treatments and new treatments.

The trust is a research active trust and we are committed to supporting research studies.
