Early talk boost

This full day’s training course qualifies early years practitioners to deliver the Early Talk Boost programme in their setting. Early Talk Boost is a targeted group intervention developed by ICAN, the children’s communication charity, to boost the skills of 3–4 year old children whose language development is delayed. Speech, Language and Communication for SENCos

This free session is aimed at both new and experienced SENCos who would like to know more about speech, language and communication (SLC) development and difficulties, and how to support these in their setting. The session is delivered by an experienced speech and language therapist and includes a brief overview of SLC needs and their impact, with video examples and plenty of time for discussion. You will also have the opportunity to look through a large number of resources that are available to support you in your work – many of these are free and online. Read more.

Beyond KS2: Supporting Speech, Language and Communication

This course has been designed to offer guidance to secondary teachers and teaching assistants who would like to develop their understanding and identification of young people with speech, language and communication needs.

The session is delivered by an experienced speech and language therapist and covers:

  • How to recognise speech, language and communication difficulties.
  • What are the impacts of speech, language and communication needs?
  • Approaches and strategies that support young people within a classroom setting.
  • What to do if you need more help.
