Respiratory (lung) research
If you have a respiratory (lung) condition, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis and emphysema you may be able to take part in one of our research trials.
You can be as involved as you want to be. It can be quite a large commitment for some studies, but for others we might just need you to come to the hospital for a blood test or even send a questionnaire out to you at home. You do not always need to be a patient admitted to hospital as most of our studies involve people who are in the community.
Being involved in research can one day make a real difference to the people, like me who suffer from these illnesses. The nurses really put you at ease – there is nothing to worry about.
If you decide to take part, you will be very well supported along the way.
We also hold very friendly, informative focus groups four times a year and we invite all of our patients who are involved in research or have shown any interest to come along and hear what research we are doing and what we are about to start.
By taking part in research, you can help make a big difference to the treatments we provide for our patients in the future.
