Diabetes research

If you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, you may be able to take part in one of our research studies.

Diabetes is a life-long condition that affects over three million people in the UK. It occurs when a person sugar levels are too high. People can be affected by Type I or Type II diabetes.

We are running the TrialNet pathway to prevention study. This research looks at the natural history of the development of Type I diabetes.

If you are eligible, you will be sent the study factsheet and you will be invited to take part. Close blood relatives are screened using simple blood test as those with a family history of diabetes are between 10 and 15 times more likely to develop it themselves than those without.

Taking part in diabetes research now will be a big help for those who develop the condition in the future.
