Cancer information centre
The cancer information centres at the University Hospital of North Tees and the University Hospital of Hartlepool provide a confidential service for anyone with questions or concerns about cancer.
With a main centre at the University Hospital of North Tees and a satellite location at the University Hospital of Hartlepool, the service is staffed by two cancer information specialists funded by the charity Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our trained staff and volunteers can help you to get the information and support you need, when you need it. The centre can provide information on a wide range of topics including:
- Different types of cancers
- Cancer treatments
- Welfare benefits and financial advice
- Healthy eating, exercise and stopping smoking
- Local cancer support groups
- Services and support within the community and voluntary sector
The centre holds a vast range of information booklets, free of charge, which are available to patients, family members and healthcare professionals.
No appointment is necessary and all are welcome – whether they have a cancer diagnosis, are worried about cancer or are visiting on behalf of a friend or relative.
Our partnership with Macmillan has allowed us to be able to give more help and advice to people affected by cancer.
