Thank you to our volunteers

The trust said thank you to its army of volunteers last night at a very special event.

A thank you event with a special theme – celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday, was held for all of the trust’s volunteers and members of the NHS Retirement Fellowship.

volunteers-3Chairman Paul Garvin, who hosted the event, was joined by other members of the senior management team and governors in the restaurant at the University Hospital of North Tees, where volunteers were treated to a meal provided by the trust’s catering team.volunteers-4

He said: “This annual event is an excellent chance for me, as chairman to have an opportunity to say a formal thank you to the trust’s volunteers.

“It is so important that we recognise the valua  ble contribution volunteers make to the trust and this is just a small way of recognising the incredible amount of voluntary work which goes on in the trust.

volunteers-2The work our volunteers do makes such a difference to staff, patients and visitors and we are very grateful for the way in which they give up their time to support the trust. Their generosity is very much appreciated.

The event had a few extra touches this year to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday. Staff joined in by wearing red, white and blue and staff provided entertainment with some familiar songs that got everyone singing along.

Paul continued: “The event wouldn’t have been possible without all of the work which happened behind the scenes to make it a success.

“I would like to thank our catering department for the delicious food they served and to our staff who organised the occasion and volunteered to come along and serve the volunteers and retired members.”volunteers-5

volunteers-1The trust is very privileged to have so many volunteers, many who have supported the trust for many years and to be able to continually welcome new volunteers to the team. Volunteers can do as many hours as they can spare to fit in with the lives and the interests of the volunteer throughout many different areas of the trust.
