The trust’s stop smoking service is supporting the national stop smoking campaign – Stoptober throughout the month of October.
Stoptober is a 28 day initiative, which is backed by Fresh – urging smokers across the country to stop smoking. Stoptober is a great time for smokers to make a positive change in their lives and quit. It’s a time when family, friends and colleagues can all make a start together.
People who quit for 28 days are five times more likely to stay smoke free. This is one of the reasons why Stoptober is such a fantastic campaign.
The trust’s stop smoking service lead for Stockton and Hartlepool Pat Marshall said: “Getting the right support from a team of stop smoking professionals who understand and can help you can make a huge difference to being able to quit successfully. We also welcome smokers to our stop smoking sessions who want to use their own e-cigs to help them quit.”
Stop smoking service lead for Middlesbrough Redcar and Cleveland Joanna Feeney added: “We can give every individual smoker the best possible chance of quitting.
“If you start now for Stoptober you will have quit smoking by Christmas. Not only will you be beginning the start of a healthier lifestyle, but you will begin to save hundreds of pounds.
“We see thousands of people at our stop smoking sessions and we want to continue to welcome more. Stoptober is a great time for smokers to make a positive change in their lives and quit smoking.”
Help to is on offer to smokers at a number of stop smoking sessions and also pharmacies and GP practices across Stockton, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Hartlepool.
