A HEALTH team which helps women with a common long term condition has been confirmed as one of the top centres in the country.
The service hit 100% in nearly all of the main performance targets, achieving the status of accredited endometriosis centre from the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSCE).
The service has previously had provisional status and first achieved the higher status last year after following strict criteria from the BSGE and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Somendra Roy (pictured centre) said: “I would like to express my gratitude to our team and all of the supporting services for this fantastic achievement.
“This means we are officially one of the best centres in the country, which is testament to the dedication and commitment of all of our staff.
Endometriosis is a common condition where tissue that behaves like the lining of the womb (endometrium) is found in other parts of the body.
It can appear in many different places, including the ovaries, fallopian tubes, inside the tummy, and in or around the bladder or bowel.
