Recognition for dedication to research support

WITHOUT a dedicated research team, the trust would not be able to carry out clinical studies and improve treatments and patient care.

That’s why staff like research and development administrator Pauline Shepherd are so important in her role managing the workload in the department.

Pauline also supports the research delivery staff and clinical support services, being a consistent point of contact and willing to help in any way that she can.

She is the deserving winner of the latest Research Star award!

Principal pharmacy technician Helen Dunn, who nominated her, said: “Being new to research when I first started in post, Pauline provided me with lots of support for the many queries that I had and she has always helped me with a smile on her face.

“For the 10 years I have worked alongside Pauline, she has continued to support me and this has helped pharmacy to be involved in a wide range of research. I think it is easy to see the impact that our clinical staff have in relation to research but think we should not overlook the vital role that administrative staff, such as Pauline, play as this enables us to participate in research and improve patient outcomes.

“I would consider Pauline to be the heart of the department.”

Pauline is pictured being presented with her certificate by clinical director for research and development Justin Carter.
