New appointment to help protect children in need
A specialist children’s safeguarding service has welcomed a new experienced member to the team.
Lorraine Mulvey has been appointed the named nurse for children’s safeguarding at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
Lorraine has a wealth of experience in nursing which includes her most recent role as a senior nurse in the children’s safeguarding team.
Her new role will involve taking a lead on child protection expertise and leadership in the organisation.
She said: “The role of the children’s safeguarding team and named nurse is to support all staff in realising their responsibility to work together as partners with all services within and outside the trust to safeguard the well-being of every child we have contact with or who we may identify as in need due to the care we provide to their family members.
“As a team we are passionate about helping make a difference to children in need and take that responsibility extremely seriously.
“We do everything we can to make sure that health professionals along with our partner agencies work with parents and families to understand the right support they require to meet the needs of their child and know where to find this.”
Staff can contact Lorraine and the rest of the team for any help and support needed – see the staff bulletin for more details.
