Hartlepool charity walk for breast care

A group of friends helped raise money for breast cancer care by organising and taking part in a charity walk.

Kath Dodsworth, Sandra Dobson, Joan Veart,  Alison Aston, Val Kitching and Linda Cruickshank helped raise more than £250 for breast care at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.

The group walked from Hartlepool Marina to the Clock Tower at Seaton Carew – and back again – collecting donations along the way. They did a similar walk last year – raising £380 for the service.

Val said: “We would like to thank our families, friends and all of the kind people who donated during our walk for their contribution to this very important service.  It was amazing to listen to some of the stories of some of the people who donated on our walk to realise how common breast cancer is, I think we all know someone affected by this type of cancer. We have raised over £250 so far and are still awaiting some donations to come in.”

Breast cancer nurse Karen Milburn, who was presented with the funds, said: “We really appreciate this very generous donation.

“All of the funds used will go directly back into patient care and help us make improvements so we are providing the very best care to patients.”
