Friends complete Hartlepool charity walk for breast care service

For the third year in succession, a group of friends have walked in aid of breast care – raising even more money this time!

Carole Thornton, Linda Cruickshank, Alison Aston, Karen McIntosh, Sandra Dobson, Joan Veart and Val Kitching helped raise £600 for breast care across North Tees and Hartlepool hospitals.

They walked from Hartlepool Marina to the Clock Tower at Seaton Carew and back again – collecting donations along the way.

They did a similar walk last year and the year before – raising more than £1,300 for the service.

Val said: “The breast service is something we have a real personal appreciation for – we have friends and family who have been treated at the trust.

“This is our way of giving something back for the fantastic care the staff here have provided our loved ones.”

Breast cancer specialist nurse Karen Milburn, who was presented with the funds, said: “We really appreciate that these lovely ladies have again walked in aid of the breast service – thank you to them and to everyone who donated to them.

“All of the funds used will go directly back into patient care to improve the service even more.”
