Hair and beauty salon is proving popular

A HOSPITAL hair and beauty salon has proven to be an instant hit – just weeks after its official launch.

The salon, based close to main reception at the University Hospital of North Tees, is run by final year apprentices at Stockton Riverside College every Tuesday and Friday.

This is as part of a new partnership between North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and the college.

It has been so popular with staff, patients and the visitors that the trust is already considering extending opening hours.

Vicki Spinks, workforce project manager, said: “The salon has been as popular as we all hoped it would be.

“We are offering a fantastic service with enthusiastic and knowledgeable college hair and beauty apprentices at very affordable prices.

“What we need to do now is let the wider community know that we are here. The salon is here to be used by anyone – staff, patients and local residents.

“We have had great feedback from customers – people are very impressed with the professional and high quality service on offer.”

Suzanne Coyle-Watson, a non-clinical educator, who has been along to the salon as a customer, said: “You can’t fail to be impressed by the apprentices working in the salon and the service they are offering.

“They are extremely polite and professional and are offering first class hair and beauty treatment.

“And it’s all at a very reasonable price! I can only say positive things and will certainly be going along again in the future.”
