It’s been another busy few days at the trust – with two pieces of really good news I’d like to share with you.
Cutting Edge @NTH
On Friday, it was fantastic to be able to officially open the trust’s new hair and beauty salon – Cutting Edge @NTH – at the University Hospital of North Tees. This has followed months of joint working with Stockton Riverside College, as we start a really exciting new partnership with them.
Painting, decorating and joinery apprentices have been with our estates staff to renovate the space, gaining vital work experience in the NHS. They have all done a fantastic job – the salon looks very professional. It will be run two days a week by final year hair and beauty apprentices from the college, a fantastic opportunity for them to gain experience and for us to benefit from their skills and knowledge, ultimately for the benefit of patient care.
And this is only the beginning of the partnership. Looking forward, we want to work with the college in a variety of ways to offer students the chance to work with us and for our own staff to develop with the help of the college.
Recognition for digital excellence
I was delighted to hear the trust was recognised with the impact of the year award at the Health Tech Awards last week. It’s a real sign of how far we have come in our work to move patient records across into an electronic format and become a leading NHS trust for our digital performance. The commitment and dedication staff have shown to this project has meant we have been able to make the improvements needed so that we can continue to provide the very best care to our patients.
