The trust held its third Foot and Ankle Symposium earlier this year.
The event at the Jury’s Inn Hotel in Middlesbrough was organised by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Rajiv Limaye and consultant radiologist Peddada Raju.
The day was started by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Limaye who welcomed all delegates, before the first presentation about reviewing treatment options was given by Asad Syed, consultant orthopaedic surgeon and Yogesh Joshi, registrar trauma and orthopaedics – from Wrexham Maelor.
It continued with a presentation by Mr Limaye about mid foot injuries before a talk by consultant radiologist Dr Raju about hot topics in musculoskeletal radiology.
He was followed by consultant anaesthetist Suresh Sridharan whose expert area was the role of high ankle block in ankle arthroscopic surgery.
The role of the ESP podiatrist in MSK was the first topic of the afternoon from the trust’s podiatry surgery teams Lynsey Hetherington and Susan McDonaugh.
Mr Rajiv Limaye was then joined by foot and ankle fellows Mr Amit Chauhan and Mr Prasad Karpe in a talk about MTP joint replacements, techniques and videos and foot and ankle clinical cases
Mr Limaye said: “It was fantastic to hear from so many experts in the area of foot and ankle treatment. I am very glad to have three of our patients who came to the event to demonstrate what they had achieved after various surgeries they had. It was a very positive response from the delegates to develop these types of symposia in the future. Dr Raju agreed that these symposia would help in raising awareness regarding diagnosis and management of complex foot and ankle pathology.
“Feedback from delegates was very positive which was very pleasing to hear, thank you to everyone who came along.”
