The family of a patient who sadly passed away have thanked the end of life care and chaplaincy teams for his care – and made a donation to go back into patient care.
The family from Stockton hand-wrote a very touching letter of thanks for looking after the elderly man who was being cared for in an Oasis palliative care suite at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Part of it read: “It was an immensely difficult time for each of us struggling with our own emotional perspective on the challenge ahead. The palliative care suite provided a spacious haven to spend precious private moments, invaluable in our eyes.
“The nursing staff were available on request to assist. We could not speak more highly of the unit, without doubt it enabled us to be completely at one throughout his final journey and for that we are truly thankful.”
The chaplaincy and palliative care team would like to thank the family for their kind words and for this fantastic donation – feedback like this really helps us to know what we’re doing right and where we can improve.
