A family business and community have come together to make traditional food from the other side of the world for NHS staff on the frontline.
Run by husband and wife duo Shary and Debbie Jahangiry and their daughter Natalie, they have been providing 120 meals, twice a week.
This is with the help of many of their loyal customers who donate some of the ingredients to the meals can be made up.
Every Wednesday and Friday, one the trust’s volunteer drivers Tommy Young collects the meals from the business in Church Street and drops them off at the University Hospital of North Tees.
Debbie said: “Our aim is to give staff a little boost, a full tummy full of nutritional food and a little treat so that they know how much we value them for the amazing work they’re doing.
“We also want to thank our own customers who have donated many of the ingredients for our food – without them all we wouldn’t be able to do what we have.
“Everyone has come together to say thanks to our amazing NHS staff for everything they’re doing.”
Urgent care nurse practitioner Jenny Goodman said: “We really appreciate the support we get from businesses like Modern Persian kitchen. The food they are delivering is delicious and has been popular with staff!
“We know this is challenging time for everyone at the moment – but it has really shown how communities are coming together to care for each other.”
