Sarah Whitehouse, a registrar in elderly care, has been awarded the latest star of the month award after being nominated by two different colleagues who worked alongside her during a really busy period during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is Sarah being presented with her very well deserved award by deputy director of finance Stuart Irvine this week.
Lucy said: “Sarah is extremely attentive to the needs of her patients and colleagues, she ensures the highest level of care is provided and her patients are listened to and valued.
“She is a strong leader who embodies the core values of medicine, she respects her patients and their wishes and always acts in their best interests”.
Working a series of busy night shifts during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, Sarah ensured all junior doctors spent equal shifts in the areas requiring full PPE which Elle describes as an ‘uncomfortable and stressful environment’ but added that Sarah always ensured staff took regular breaks and kept well hydrated.
Elle added: “Sarah was approachable with any questions I had regarding patient care, and would often take the time to teach around the subject in a way that consolidated both my theoretical and practical knowledge.
“Thanks to Sarah I have always felt like a valued member of the clinical team, I hope that when I progress to a stage where I might be working with more junior members of the ward team, they would feel as well-supported and accepted as I have.”
