Charity ball continues to raise thousands for cancer care

The trust’s Macmillan lung cancer charity ball has helped raise tens of thousands of pounds over the last few years.
And that grand total continues to rise, thanks to another successful event recently – helping raise more than £9,000.
That puts the total at nearly £60,000 since it was first set up.
It is run every year by the lung cancer nurses and is supported by staff, patients and relatives.
Money raised is split evenly between the trust’s lung cancer fund and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Jeanette Draffan, lung cancer specialist nurse, said: “The amount raised at this event never fails to amaze us all.
“The money in the trust fund goes towards providing much needed equipment such as nebulisers for lung cancer patients as well as diagnostic equipment, while the money donated to Macmillan provides lung cancer patients, locally and nationally with necessary support.
“Planning is already under way for next year! Anyone interested in buying tickets, donating a prize or generally getting involved can contact the lung cancer nurses on 01642 624106.”
