A leading local health provider has held its annual general meeting in Stockton.
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust hosted the event, attended by around 100 delegates at their University Hospital of North Tees site in Stockton, to share news from around the Trust throughout the course of the past 12 months.
The event was opened by Chairman for the organisation, Paul Garvin who welcomed attendees from across the region. Mr Garvin thanked the guests for taking the time to support the Trust and explained the format for the session.
Barbara Bright, Director of Corporate Affairs and Chief of Staff opened the presentations with an overview of the importance of the Council of Governors and Membership to the foundation trust. Bright explained ‘We would like to see a growth in numbers for our membership, as we do every year – but specifically from under represented areas’. Chief Executive for the organisation, Julie Gillon also spoke to delegates about progress to date and ambitions and challenges for North Tees and Hartlepool. She spoke of an organisation eager to ensure empowerment for staff to make decisions with patient care at the centre of what they deliver.
Director of Finance, Neil Atkinson spoke openly about the issues faced by the NHS at large surrounding finance. He gave an optimistic insight into the work to date of the finance team at the acute trust, in working to drive to a more positive financial position, whilst maintaining absolute focus on quality and patient safety.
Julie Lane, Chief of Nursing / Director of Patient Safety and Quality gave a succinct overview of the quality accounts for the Trust, acknowledging the work to date in ensuring that their three key priorities – patient safety, effectiveness of care and patient experience were the key influences in the provision of outstanding quality.
Further presentations were delivered relating to population health plans for the Trust by Julie Parkes, followed by an overview of the newly announced care group structure for North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust.
