Emergency care

Emergency Care is leading the way both regionally and nationally.  The directorate is looking for enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated nurses to join our teams. Our team ethos is to ensure the right patient receives the right care in the right place first time and are cared for by those with the right skills.

Emergency Care includes: intergrated urgent care; the emergency department; emergency assessment unit; ambulatory care; rapid assessment and the discharge lounge. Each department includes a different aspect of the patient’s journey and outcomes whilst working collectively to achieve a patient centered goal.

We offer excellent development and training to all staff and our emergency department has been shortlisted for a Nursing Times Award for the second year running for student placement experiences.  Our mandatory training programme is well established and brings all departments together.

Our preceptorship programme is acknowledged as being exceptionally supportive to aid the transition from student to registered nurse.

 Emergency department includes:

  • Adult ED
  • Paediatric ED

 Emergency assessment unit includes:

  • Rapid assessment unit
  • Ambulatory care
  • Emergency assessment unit
