Pension plan
North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust
When you start work in the NHS you will automatically become a member of the NHS Pension Scheme. Don’t worry, we’ll take care of all the details when you start your employment with us.
Pension contributions will come out of your salary (or income). You’ll be able to see this on your payslip. Employee contributions are based on their own pensionable pay.
You won’t pay income tax on the contributions you pay. And the Trust will contribute the equivalent of an extra 20.6% of your pay to help meet the costs of your benefits.

Employees of NTH Solutions, our subsidiary company, are automatically enrolled on their pension with National Employment Savings Trust (NEST).
Pensions contributions are 4% after tax relief and NTH Solutions pays a 3% contribution to this scheme.

Our annual savings scheme opens for applications each November.
Once you join, you can decide how much you would like to save every month. This will be deducted at source from your salary from January 2023 until October 2023 – that’s ten months of hassle-free savings.
The money will be deposited back in your bank account with your November salary the following year. For example, if you decide to save £20 a month, you will receive £200 back in November.
You must complete a new form each year to take part in this scheme. Please keep an eye on your NHS emails each November for details on how to apply. Applications typically close in mid-December.
This scheme was launched after we asked staff for suggestions on what benefits they would like to see implemented.
Staff lottery
Join our staff lottery to be in with a chance of winning one of 11 cash prizes on offer every month. The more people who take part, the bigger the prizes.
It’s £1 per ticket (maximum five lottery tickets per person per month) which will be deducted from your salary each month should you decide to play.

Lease car scheme
Our lease car scheme is run by Knowles Fleet. The scheme offers an easy, cost effective way to drive a new car that takes advantage of public sector discounts, with lowest prices guaranteed.
You can choose to pay by salary sacrifice or salary deduction.
The scheme enables you to drive a brand new car of your choice with all the main running costs such as servicing and maintenance, insurance, road tax, breakdown and recovery, included in a fixed monthly amount which is paid through salary sacrifice.
There is a large choice of vehicles included in this scene, including an extensive electric range.

You can save up to 42% on bikes and cycling accessories with Vivup’s cycle to work scheme. The salary sacrifice option is open to all staff on the PAYE payroll.
Simply browse products through the Vivup portal or visit a local, participating bike ship to get a quote for any bike brand, and order through the portal.
