The trust uses a bespoke electronic ordering system for the purchasing of goods and services.

This system, called Cardea, is the only approved method of ordering goods and services within the trust with the exception of limited list of items identified below. Cardea links directly into the trust’s financial management system ensure the prompt payment of our suppliers.

What is e-procurement?

Many of you will be familiar with the concept of internet shopping. Increasingly, consumers are ordering their weekly shop on-line from the supermarkets and purchasing books.

While internet shopping is revolutionising consumer purchasing a similar thing is happening in the healthcare market with more and more companies and government departments introducing electronic purchasing, which linking directly into their financial management systems. Such systems provide a seamless process from purchase to pay.
