We're working hard to make waiting times even shorter
We've now exceeded the government's target of 90 per cent of our outpatients and 85 per cent of our inpatients waiting no more than 18 weeks from being referred by their GP to their first treatment in hospital.
We aim to treat you as quickly as possible. We consistently achieve our target of 98 per cent of patients being seen, treated, admitted or discharged within four hours of arriving in our accident and emergency departments.
We understand how worrying a possible diagnosis of cancer would be and we guarantee to see you within two weeks if your doctor thinks you may have cancer. Like you, we're keen to rule cancer out as quickly as possible and get on with treating you as quickly as we can if you are diagnosed with cancer. If this means you will have some of your care with us and some at other hospitals we work together to make sure this doesn't delay your treatment.
Fed up about food?
We know people in hospital feeling unwell don't eat the way they do at home. We also know how much food helps people to recover, so we've just introduced a new system. We can now bring you a piping hot, appetising, nutritious and freshly served meal to your bedside every evening. We're concerned not only with serving food but making sure you can eat it. If you need help or have any questions please speak to the nurse looking after you.
Questions or concerns - tell us straightaway
We know some people feel they can't raise their issues while they are in hospital because it might affect their care. We want you to tell us straightaway if you have concerns or questions when you're in hospital. This way we can resolve the things you are concerned about making your stay in hospital better. Often the things you tell us help patients in future as well.
